Telemedicine, also known as Telehealth, simply means accessing clinical services from a qualified doctor/health practitioner using electronic communications and software, without actually visiting the health practitioner yourself in person. Telemedicine is sometimes used as a synonym of telehealth to describe remote clinical services, such as diagnosis and monitoring. Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients without a face-to face meeting. Telemedicine technology is now frequently used for general medical consultations, follow-up visits, management of chronic conditions, medication management, specialist consultations and a host of other clinical services that can be provided remotely via secure video and/or audio.
Where it was once only available in limited circumstances from a few practitioners, telehealth has now evolved and become a widely-accepted mainstream way for you to access medical and health care.
Using National Telemedicine Doctor’s telemedicine platform, you can now consult an Australian Medical Board-certified doctor/GP/health practitioner in the comfort of our own home or office. Of course a face-to-face consultation with your regular GP/health practitioner is the ideal consultation, however a consultation with National Telemedicine Doctors is an effective and convenient alternative, when a face-to-face consultation is not possible. During your consultation your National Telemedicine Doctor/health practitioner will advise you if an in-person visit to a health practitioner is required.
